Paleo and weight loss
Cutting down on the weight
is one of the major concerns of people today. Visiting the gym and working out
on the gym equipment is one of the major options to many when it comes to
reducing weight. However, you ever thought about the implications an improper
diet has on your weight? Cool, today we shall focus on the Paleo diet.
In simple terms, Paleo diet
is basically foods presumed to be eaten by early ancestors. They majorly
consist of meat, vegetables, fish, fruits, eggs, grains, etc. They exclude
processed food and grain products, sugar, salt, legumes and refined vegetable
oils.
For a sustainable weight
loss, the following tips are vital to make paleo a routine part of the diet.
Breakfast. Take
an omelet made of peppers, mushroom, broccoli and sauté onion in olive oil.
This ensures one take a natural breakfast with no inorganic chemicals.
Lunch.
For a paleo diet, a large salad should be made. Spinach, mixed greens,
radishes, peppers, avocados, cucumbers, carrots, almonds and walnuts can make a
good salad. This should be served with beef slices, chicken or any seafood of
choice. Addition of olive oil and lemon juice will make this a complete paleo
lunch.
Dinner.
Spaghetti topped with pesto, marinara and meatballs. This should be served with
steamed spinach or broccoli.
Dessert.
This should be made up of succulent fruits e.g. berries. Celery sticks, sliced
fruits and pre-portioned nuts will make easy snacks.
The above routine will make
a good diet.
In taking Paleo diets, we
don’t want to completely cavemen diets. Some Paleo eaters will go car free
while others will be free to munch a plate of baked potatoes or white
rice. Whichever the case, the core
tenets of ancestral eating remain constant:
These are:-
1. Eat dense, unprocessed, whole nourishing foods.
2. Avoid foods that will cause systemic inflammation. Toxic foods, like those containing gluten-grains,
sugar, legumes and laboratory concocted foods.
3. The Paleo diet should be
followed as closely as possible. Off-reading from this diet can be fun, but
being principled to stay on this diet will really help. This means avoiding
dietary potholes like processed junk food, soy, added sugar, gluten etc.
4. Paleo diet need not be
complicated. The recipes should be less in time consumption. Cavemen never
enjoyed the facilities like quick cooking or food processors, thereby it should
be easy for us in the modern world to prepare these diet.
5. Paleo diet is supposed to
be delicious. Many guys take a Paleo
approach to eating as a mere deprivation, but this should not be the case.
Instead of this, people are supposed to see the overall effect of this diet in
their body fitness and health.
With all the above tips in
mind, it’s however vital to note that a Paleo diet will not shed your extra
weight alone. Other practices like workouts should be incorporated to achieve
the desired results. This approach is mainly about optimizing the body health and fitness not transforming you into a zero
size run away model.
